The area of operation is located within a portion of Region 6 of the Upper Snake Region in Unit 67 beginning at Hwy 31, between Swan Valley & Victor, ID and extending its hunting boundaries to the northwest within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. This vast area is home to all of Idaho's big game animals, including elk, mule deer, moose, bear & mountain lion. The landscape is complete with deep canyons & rolling hills providing bedding areas, feeding areas and spring water to nourish its inhabitants. Summer opportunities include, horseback trips, incidental fishing & wagon rides. The permit also allows for additional use of horseback trips in the Pritchard Creek drainage in unit 66 and the ability to request for special use should your hunter draw a tag outside the designated unit of operation. Swan Valley Outfitters currently holds a number of allocated tags for the Palisades Zone. "Allocated tags" mean a hunting tag that has been allocated by the fish & game commission pursuant to section 36-408(4) of the Idaho Code. The board uses average tag use history from the prior two years towards calculations. Why is this important? Idaho non-resident tags are purchased over the counter and sell out within the first hour. There are 56 Palisades Zone non-resident A elk tags of which the outfitter has 10 allocated. There are 37 Palisades Zone non-resident B elk tags of which the outfitter has 12 allocated. And there are 77 Palisades Zone non-resident regular deer tags of which the outfitter has 10 allocated. As the outfitter, this guarantees a full camp each season and without the fear of losing business to hunters that did not purchase their tags in a timely manner. This turn key outfitting operation has two designated camps, upper & lower camp in the West Piney drainage. The camps will be sold complete with wall tents and wood burning stoves, cook tents with all of the equipment needed to cook for large groups, horses and mules with all of the tack required for riders and packing out game, 24ft gooseneck horse trailer and much more. There are 6 guides on staff, 2 cooks and 2 camp jacks. And a bunch of local volunteers ready to saddle up to put in and break down camp! This has truly always been a family run operation.
